VulGarrity Takes Top Honors At WBRU's 2011 Rock Hunt

PROVIDENCE RI (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — On April 8th, RI-based brother and sister rock duo VulGarrity took top honors at the 2011 WBRU Rock Hunt, besting three competitors: Herra Terra, The Death of Paris, and Last One Out.

The WBRU Rock Hunt has been staged by Brown University's 95.5 WBRU radio station since 1990 and annually receives hundreds of submissions from local and regional bands competing for the grand prize, which includes precious studio time, help with web design, a photo shoot and some spiffy new gear. The bands are required to perform primarily original music and judges rate the bands in six different categories, ranging from from Songwriting to Radio-Readiness.

"VulGarrity stole the show that evening. They were the most unique and exciting act that night. They make excellent, BIG noise for just two people. VulGarrity is rock and roll, plain and simple," said a fan who attended the show.

Previous Rock Hunt winners include They Might Be Giants, L7, Monty Are I (AKA Monty's Fan Club) and The Schemers.

VulGarrity, featuring CelebrityAccess's own Shawn Garrity as well as his sister Tracy are multi-instrumentalists with a reputation for aggressive touring. Their music has been featured on MTV’s hit shows "Made", "Cribs", "Teen Cribs" and "My Life as Liz" and they've shared a stage with bands such as The Misfits, Sponge, Mike Doughty, Days of the New and King’s X.
