LIVERPOOL, UK (CelebrityAccess) – Well, it’s finally arrived! Sir Paul McCartney and James Cordon’s highly anticipated episode of Carpool Karaoke aired on CBS last night, and it was more than we’d hoped for.
The nearly 24-minute long episode not only features the duo singing a whole host of Beatles’ classics such as “Baby You Can Drive My Car,” “Penny Lane,” “Let It Be,” and “When I’m 64” among countless others, but also includes a sightseeing tour lead by McCartney himself. They make stops at a number of significant locations throughout Liverpool, most of which are mentioned in various Beatles songs, in addition to making a brief visit to McCartney’s childhood family home.
Along the way, the pair meet and greet with countless adoring fans, they share laughs, Cordon even sheds a couple of tears, and the whole thing turns out to be a rather lovely trip down memory lane.
In the end, watching this episode, even through the glare of a computer screen, one can immediately sense just how far-reaching and cross-generational McCartney’s impact has been. It’s obvious that his music has touched the lives of so many people, but somehow as he sits there singing along to his own songs and offering passers-by a gentle wave, his words seem to have a whole new weighted meaning.
