LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) – LA-based commercial production partner and creative collective, Whitelist, has launched a brand new venture to support music video directors called Godless Studios.
The music video production company is helmed by studio executives Jerad Anderson (Executive Producer and Founder of Whitelist) and Seb Webber (former Creative Director for Tidal), and is focused on developing and nurturing directing talent while working with major acts such as Muse, John Legend, Jack White, Kevin Gates, Cozz and others.
According to Anderson and Webber, in today’s ever-changing streaming-music culture, the video director is becoming more important early on in the promotional stages of an album release. With video production becoming increasingly democratized through technology, curation and premium content has become even more important to artists hoping to promote and define a distinct point of view for their fans.
“Music videos are more important than ever, and second-rate content just isn’t cutting it anymore,” explains Webber. “Audiences expect flushed out narratives and or unique and experimental creative concepts which has lead to a thriving music video production industry.
“Godless works for everybody involved because we are protecting the filmmakers, who deserve to be paid, by fighting for the budgets they need to make videos that portray artists in the best way possible (through visual storytelling),” he adds. “By delivering great creative from this true understanding of directors and artists, it meets the business objectives on the management side so everybody wins.”
Godless Studio directing roster currently includes: Spencer Creigh, Lance Drake, Lauren Dunn, Cameron Dutra, Pasqual Gutierrez, Mishka Kornai, John Merizalde, Anthony Pham, Joe Sill and Brooke Candy.
