BIRMINGHAM, UK (CelebrityAccess) — Venue management company NEC Group announced the promotion of Phil Mead to serve as the organization’s Arenas and The Ticket Factory Chairman.
Mead previously served as a managing director and his new duties include governance and strategic direction and oversite of all projects related to the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham for 2022.
NEC will host nine sporting events during the Games, at three of their venues.
Mead will also work with CEO Paul Thandi on merger and acquisition opportunities which has become an increasing focus for NEC Group since private equity firm Blackstone acquired the venue management company last October.
NEC Group also announced the promotion of Guy Dunstan to Director of Arenas. Dunstan, who formerly served as General Manager of NEC’s arena division, has spent almost two decades with the NEC Group.
“I am pleased to confirm these two appointments. From playing an integral role in bringing the 2022 Commonwealth Games to Birmingham, to being instrumental in growing our consultancy arm and transforming our Birmingham-based box office into a national ticketing brand, Phil has made a significant contribution to growing our business. Meanwhile, as General Manager, Guy has consistently provided great leadership and direction to drive high performance across both arenas and hugely deserves his promotion,” said NEC’s Paul Thandi.
Both promotions will take effect immediately.
