LONDON (CelebrityAccess) — The UK-based royalty collection society PRS for Music announced that Andrea C. Martin has been appointed Chief Executive, effective June 17th.
Andrea will oversee the organization’s 500 staffers across two London sites, and three joint ventures, representing 140,000 songwriters, composers, and music publishers.
“I am honoured and excited to lead PRS for Music and have the opportunity to shape the future of a renowned UK and global music business, that is inherent to its songwriters, composers, and publishers. I look forward to working with the team and the Board to ensure our members and customers are well served,” Martin said.
Martin’s previous experience includes both listed and private organizations, as well as tenures in both the public and non-profit sector. She has been President and CEO of three international business units with Readers Digest Association, a multi-brand media, and entertainment company, Managing Director of data services for the Royal Mail in the UK and President of ADT Canada.
Martin is stepping into the role to be vacated by Robert Ashcroft, who announced his intention to step down late last year. Ashcroft will work with Martin in her transition to the role as Chief Executive.
“The Board would like to extend their thanks to Robert for his ten years of service to the organisation and the considerable impact he has made. Under his stewardship royalty revenues have grown 70%, the business has been transformed and PRS for Music has successfully led the fight for copyright both in the UK and internationally,” a statement from PRS said.
