VERON, NY (CelebrityAccess) — Woodstock 50 has officially applied for a license to stage the festival at Vernon Downs, a harness horse racetrack, hotel and casino in Oneida County, New York.
According to the Poughkeepsie Journal, Town of Vernon Supervisor Randy Watson confirmed that the festival organizers applied for a license for the festival, which is set to take place from August 16th-18th.
However, the license appears to be a more modest festival than had initially been envisioned. Watson told the Journal that the license for the event was for a capacity of 45,000-50,000, far smaller than the fest’s original target capacity of 150,000.
In a statement to the Journal, organizers for Woodstock 50 contested Watson’s claim about the festival’s capacity, which they claimed was 65,000.
It is also unclear if Woodstock 50 organizers are still weighing other locations. A rep for Vernon Downs told the Journal last week that the race track was just one of “a few organizations that are being considered” to host the festival.
