NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival in upstate New York has disinvited folk singer Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary over a 1970 jail sentence for indecent liberties with a 14-year-old girl, according to The Associated Press.

The festival’s board has reportedly cited negative reaction to Yarrow on social media as the reason for their decision to remove the 81-year-old folk singer from the festival’s lineup.

Yarrow, who was sentenced to three months in jail over a 1969 incident in which the 14-year-old and her 17-year-old sister went to his hotel seeking an autograph and he answered the door naked, was pardoned by former President Jimmy Carter in 1981.

Yarrow was set to appear September 8th as part of the festival’s 2019 lineup. A representative for Yarrow reportedly told AP that the singer accepts the decision.

The 25th edition of Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival is scheduled to take place September 7th & 8th, 2019.
