(CelebrityAccess) — One of the accusers who claimed to have been sexually assaulted by actor Kevin Spacey has died.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the court was notified of anonymous accuser’s death in a legal filing by the actor’s attorney.
The individual, who was a massage therapist identified in court documents as John Doe, claimed he was forced into contact with Spacey’s genitals during a private massage in Malibu.
The John Doe suit represented the most significant legal threat for Spacey after criminal charges brought against him in a case of alleged sexual misconduct in Mass unraveled after the accuser, a teenage busboy, refused to testify in the case.
As THR notes, the massage therapist case could continue if the heirs of John Doe wish to press the case. However, the heirs would need to demonstrate standing and would likely be required to identify the deceased accuser.
However, the loss of the primary witness on the alleged misconduct would add additional challenges to the litigation for the plaintiffs.
