LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Drake turned out to be the surprise special guest at Tyler, The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, but the fans weren’t’ having it.
Drake, who appeared as the final performer for the festival, was booed off stage by fans who had been expecting Tyler’s former Odd Future bandmate Frank Ocean.
After performing a handful of songs to a mix of boos and desultory cheers, Drake suggested that he was willing to expand his special guest appearance into a full concert set.
Held at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, the Tyler, The Creator-curated festival also featured performances by Earl Sweatshirt, Solange, FKA Twigs, 21 Savage, Juice WRLD, Yasiin Bey, and DaBaby.
“I’m here for you tonight. If you want to keep going, I will keep going tonight. What’s up? If you want to keep going, I will keep going tonight,” he told the audience.
However, the audience appeared largely apathetic, with many festival attendees calling out ‘no!’
Drake appeared to take the hint and wrapped his performance up, adding, “Well, look, it’s been love. I love you all. I go by the name of Drake. Thank you for having me.”
As he left the stage the audience began chanting ‘We Want Frank’ apparently in reference to Frank Ocean.
Following the incident, Tyler, The Creator defended Drake and the booking in a series of Twitter posts.
