THE NETHERLANDS (CelebrityAccess) – The European Festival Awards have announced Holger Hübner and Thomas Jensen, founders of Germany’s Wacken Open Air, as the recipients of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
The duo co-founded Wacken Open Air in 1990, and have since turned it into both one of the largest employers in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and one of the world’s leading annual Heavy Metal festivals.
Hübner and Jensen also operate live entertainment company ICS GmbH (Ltd.), which houses ICS Festival Service, their concert and event planning arm, SST Seaside Touring, their booking and artist agency that handles a roster of roughly 30 international artists, and SH-Promotion, which serving under the name Metaltix, has enabled them to enter the ticketing market and set up the leading platform for Heavy Metal and Hard Rock concerts.
Additionally, Hübner and Jensen are the founders of the Wacken Foundation, a non-profit foundation dedicated to the promotion of young bands. The foundation funds projects such as album productions or grants tour support.
The 11th edition of the European Festival Awards are set to take place on January 15 in Groningen, The Netherlands.
