BRUSSELS, Belgium (CelebrityAccess) — Charlie Colin, a bass guitarist and founding member of the San Francisco-based rock band Train, has reportedly died. He was 58.

Colin’s mother told TMZ that he appears to have died after falling in the shower while house-sitting for a friend in Brussels, Belgium. According to TMZ, Colin’s’ mother said his body was not found for several days until a friend returned home from a trip.

Colin was one of the co-founders of Train when the group formed in San Francisco in 1993 and his musicianship was featured on the band’s first three albums, including their 1998 self-titled debut and their triple-platinum follow-up in 2021, Drops of Jupiter.

However, he was fired from the group in 2003 due to alleged substance abuse issues and was replaced in the lineup by Black Crowes bassist Johnny Colt.

Following his departure from Train, Colin launched other projects, including Painbirds, The Food Pill, and The Side Deal, which featured Stan Frazier of Sugar Ray and brothers Joel and Scott Owen of The PawnShop Kings.

More recently, Colin lived in Brussels where he taught at a music conservatory and served as the music director for the Newport Beach Film Festival, according to his social media.
