LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) — In its first year of operation, Sphere Entertainment reported the results for the company’s first fiscal quarter of 2025, with revenues of $127.1 million, an increase of $119.3 million as compared to the prior year quarter during which the arena officially debuted.
$71.5 million of the revenue generated during the first quarter came from 207 performances of Postcard from Earth and V-U2 An Immersive Concert Film, while revenue related to events at The Sphere accounted for $40.9 million, reflecting a full quarter of shows instead of a partial quarter in 2023.
Sponsorships, signage, Exosphere advertising and suite license fees accounted for $8.5 million in revenue, an increase $5.9 million as compared to the prior year quarter, primarily reflecting higher Exosphere advertising revenues and, to a lesser extent, higher suite license fee revenues, both of which were due to a full quarter of operations in the current year quarter.
At the same time, Sphere Entertainment reported an operating loss of $117.6 million and an adjusted operating loss of $26.3 million, which the company attributed partially to higher direct operating expenses and selling, general and administrative expenses.
“The vision for Sphere has always included a global network of venues, and our recently announced plans for a second Sphere in Abu Dhabi mark a significant milestone toward that goal. We are confident in the opportunities ahead for Sphere and believe we are well-positioned to drive long-term shareholder value,” said Executive Chairman and CEO James L. Dolan.
