“I’m sorry, darlings, You & Me 2024 is officially canceled,” read the message. “I explored every possible avenue for the festival to go ahead, but unfortunately, it was just not feasible.”
Ticketholders who purchased through Humantix and Tixel will receive full refunds, with email notifications about the refund process set to go out next week.
Festival director Bailey Chalmers explained to news.com.au that the loss of a key headliner who was unable to enter the country was a major factor behind the cancellation. “Unless you can find a replacement of similar caliber, it becomes an issue of trying to go ahead with a very different show than originally advertised,” Chalmers said. He also cited low ticket sales and rising costs as additional challenges.
The cancellation of You & Me is yet another setback for Australia’s struggling music festival industry, joining the ranks of other events like Splendour in the Grass, Bluesfest, and Groovin the Moo, which were also canceled this year.
