'Annabelle: Creation' Goes Global For Weekend Box Office

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Warner Bros.' horror spinoff sequel 'Annabelle: Creation' finally managed to elbow past the Chinese action film "Wolf Warrior 2" taking the top spot worldwide in the weekend box office and generating $57.5M according to estimates compiled by comScore.

Much of 'Annabelle's' success came from international markets, with the film posting just $15.5m domestically over the weekend and slipping to second place behind Lionsgate film's 'The Hitman's Bodyguard' which generated an estimated $21.6M domestically and $28.1M worldwide, according to comScore.

Other notables opening this weekend included 'Paradox,' a Hong Kong-Chinese action film directed by Wilson Yip, with action direction by Sammo Hung, posting $31 million worldwide on its debut weekend.

Conversely, Steven Soderbergh's heist movie 'Logan Lucky' (Bleecker Street) failed to find traction with audiences, generating a paltry $8.1m despite warm reviews from the critical press.
