DETROIT (CelebrityAccess) — Aretha Franklin, the queen of soul, has announced that after 2017, she's planning to take it easy.
She revealed her plans during an interview with Detroit TV station WDIV Local 4, telling reporter Evrod Cassimy, “I must tell you, I am retiring this year.”
The seventy-five-year-old Franklin said that before she retires, she's planning to record at least one more album of original music planned for release in September and which would feature production by Stevie Wonder.
Franklin noted that while she wants to spend more time with her grandchildren as they get ready for college, she would still be interested in doing “some select things, many one a month, for six months out of the year”.
In recent years, Franklin as had a number of health issues, including having a tumor removed in 2010 and canceling a number of shows last year due to illness. – Staff Writers
