LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — CAA Sports has pacted with Lisbon-based sports management shop Gestifute, to provide representation for Gestifute's clients. Gestifute manages a number of high profile sports figures including Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo and the coach of the year Jose Mourinho, Variety reported.
The deal indicates CAA's continuing interest in the world of professional soccer, an interest that came to light last year when they brokered the deal to bring soccer superstar David Beckham to the United States to play for the L.A. Galaxy.
CAA will help Gestifute to devise endorsement, and licensing deals for publishing, film, video games and other types of media outlets.
According to Variety, CAA is doing more than just repping athletes and have been serving as advisers to Joe Roth, the former studio head of Walt Disney & 20th Century Fox who has since purchased a Major League Soccer expansion in Seattle. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
