Drastic Staff Cuts Hit L.A. Times

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) –The L.A. Times has become the latest nationally-known newspaper to institute staff cuts and among the 150 employees to be given buyouts or pinkslips was entertainment writer Chuck Philips.

Philips won a Pullitzer for his 1999 work on exposing the corruption in the entertainment industry but his reputation took a hit recently when the Times was forced to publish a lengthy retraction of his 2002 article in which he alleged that Sean "P. Diddy" Combs was implicated in the murder of slain rapper 2pac Shakur.

Also among the staffers departing the paper is longtime music writer Richard Cromelin. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
