Elton John Cancels Residency Dates Due To 'Unusual' Bacterial Infection

LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) — Elton John has been forced to cancel his entire upcoming performance schedule of his 'Million Dollar Piano' residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace due to illness.

John also postponed a scheduled performance in Bakersfield, Calif., on May 6.

According to a rep for the casino, John contracted an "unusual" bacterial infection while on tour in South America. John reportedly became violently ill during his flight home from Santiago, Chil and was admitted to a hospital in the UK, where he underwent treatment.

After spending two nights in intensive care followed by an extended stay in the hospital, Elton was released from the hospital on Saturday, April 22 and is now resting at home per doctor’s advice, the rep said.

"I am so fortunate to have the most incredible and loyal fans and apologize for disappointing them. I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well," said Elton.

John is entering the final year of his run at Caesars and after the canceled spate of dates, he's due to resume his residency with shows in October 2017. – Staff Writers
