MELBOURNE (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Australian singer and songwriter Gabriella Cilmi (pronounced chill-me) is set to hit the U.S. with her hit single "Sweet About Me" set to debut on radio this month and her album "Lessons To Be Learned" ready to drop in March on Universal Republic.
17-year-old Gabriella is fresh off a big night at this year's ARIAs where the she won, among other awards, Best Female Artist and Breakthrough Artist Of The Year for both single – "Sweet About Me" – and album, as well as snagging the award for Highest Selling Single Of The Year.
While Cilmi hasn't gotten much publicity in the US, she's been charting strongly in the UK and was the youngest solo artist to hit #1 on the pop charts in her native land.
Look for Cilmi to be featured on as 2009's first selection VH1's "You Oughta Know" and we wouldn't be surprised if she made the rounds in a tour next summer. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
