BRIDGEPORT, CT (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Annual jam band festival Gathering of the Vibes has announced that it will return to historic Seaside Park in Bridgeport, Connecticut, this summer, after a six-year out-of-state residency.
The festival is scheduled for August 9-12, 2007, for four days of live music, arts and camping on the 370 acres of spectacular tree-lined parkland and over one mile of pristine beachfront overlooking Long Island Sound.
The 12th annual Gathering of the Vibes will again showcase its traditionally diverse line up that had made the event one of the Northeast’s premier summer festivals. The initial line-up includes Bob Weir & Ratdog, Buddy Guy, Los Lobos, Assembly of Dust, Deep Banana Blackout, and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. San Francisco icon Wavy Gravy will once again serve as Master of Ceremonies. Additional artists will be announced over the coming months.
The city of Bridgeport views the renewal of its relationship with the Vibes as an opportunity to exhibit the Park’s multi-million dollar renovation. Mayor John Fabrizi said in a statement, “We couldn’t be more pleased to have the Gathering of the Vibes return to Park City. We know that those visiting Seaside Park will love what we’ve done here.”
GOTV Executive Director Ken Hays agrees: “With the help of the City, in 1999 and 2000 we put on unforgettable events and are thrilled to return in 2007. With the recent renovations, Seaside Park has never looked more magnificent.”
Gathering of the Vibes tickets go on sales this Thursday, December 21st at 10:00 AM, and are available through GatheringOfTheVibes.com, or by calling 203-226-8749. A limited number of “Early Bird” Weekend Camping Passes are available for $100, and, by popular demand, a limited number of VIP Passes will be made available for $385. Children under 12 are admitted at no charge.
Gathering of the Vibes began in 1996 as a celebration of the life of Jerry Garcia, who died the previous August. Initially named Deadhead Heaven, the festival provided a forum for fans across the country to remember the counterculture icon. In each of its 12 years, Gathering of the Vibes has paired legendary artists with emerging acts to appeal to a wide cross-section of music fans. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
