SHELBURNE, VT (AP) — A Vermont museum that was to host a July 5 concert by a Grateful Dead legacy band has canceled it.
Worried that ticket-less fans would show up for a sold-out performance by Furthur at Shelburne Museum, the Town of Shelburne recommended that the show be canceled, citing public safety concerns.
On Friday, Shelburne Museum spokeswoman Leslie Wright said the venue couldn't hold the show without an adequate security plan and decided to withdraw.
Furthur, which includes former Dead guitarist Bob Weir and bassist Phil Lesh, said on its Web site that no other venue could be arranged for that date, so the band has agreed to play The Sherman Theater, in Stroudsburg, Pa., on July 5.
