LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) — Despite objections from a lawyer for B.B. King's daughters, his longtime business manager was named as the executor of the late bluesman's estate.
According to the Associated Press, Clark County District Judge Gloria Sturman affirmed LaVerne Toney's role as the sole administrator of King's assets, his property and trust.
The Associated Press also reported that Judge Sturman refused to allow lawyers for King's daughters, Karen Williams, Patty King, Rita Washington and Barbara Winfree, from contesting King's will
Attorneys for King's daughters alleged that Toney misused her power of attorney in King's final days to move approximately $1 million from personal to joint bank accounts to which she had access. They also claim that Toney blocked relatives from visiting King while he was in hospice. However, the judge deferred ruling on their claims.
"I'm not saying there may not be other issues, or that we may not need outside assistance," Sturman said. "But he had a plan. I don't see anything before me at this point in time that he wanted that changed." – Staff Writers
