Kentucky Speedway Concert Cancelled

SPARTA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — There was no joy in Sparta last Friday. "Summer Night Jam", a country music concert, featuring five different acts, with headliners Alan Jackson, Big & Rich, Merle Haggard, Deana Carter and Shannon Brown was called off less than 24 hours before it was scheduled to start the Cincinnati Post reported.

"Routing and production is all we can say," Tim Bray, the stadium's marketing director told the Post. Mark Cassius, GM for the speedway had been previously quoted as saying "Our objective is to continue putting our foot in the doors – keep doing concerts and show these agents across he county that, 'Hey, there is a venue here,' "

The Speedway had previously attempted to lure some big name acts like Metallica, The Stones and Bon Jovi but had not been able to attract the performers. Their efforts in the music world have not been entirely without success however. Last summer, Tim McGraw played a show there which drew 16,000 fans and a promoter from Kansas helped to stage a 2 day music festival there in 2003 & 2004. – CelebrityAccess staff writers.
