McFerrin To Receive Peabody Medal

Bobby McFerrin has been chosen to receive the prestigious George Peabody Medal for Outstanding Contributions to Music in America on May 23. The award will be presented at the graduation ceremonies of the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in the Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall.

Previous award recipients include Leonard Bernstein, Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson, Andre Watts, Mstislav Rostropovich, Billy Taylor, Wynton Marsalis, Philip Glass and Isaac Stern.

McFerrin is also being celebrated as the headliner for both the 25th Annual Chorus America Convention in Denver, June 5-8, which is the Association of Professional Vocal Ensembles and the Sixth World Symposium On Choral Music — an international gathering of choirs, delegates and scholars, brought together to share their music with the public, August 3-10 in Minneapolis.
