LOS ANGELES, CA (November 13, 2014) – Nederlander Concerts announced that the Greek Theatre’s 2014 season, in a fourth year of consecutive growth, has generated more revenue for the City of Los Angeles than any prior year.
In a what they describe as a record breaking year, the family-owned West Coast promoter reports that they presented more shows at the storied Theatre this past season while maintaining ticket prices at an average of $56.00 per ticket throughout the season.
Performers at The Greek this season included Grammy Award-winner John Legend, alt-J, La Ley, Sara Bareilles, legendary French singer Charles Aznavour, Massive Attack, Alejandra Guzmán and the number-one selling duo, Daryl Hall and John Oates among numerous others.
Nederlander's announcement comes in the wake of a decision of the Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Department, last month to grant the Greek operation concession to Live Nation when Nederlander's contract to manage the venue expires in 2015. Nederlander has operated The Greek since the 1970s.
The City Council still needs to approve the recommendation of the Recreation and Parks Department before Live Nation can seal the deal for The Greek. – Staff Writers
