SAYREVILLE, NJ (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — After extensive repairs and renovations, The Starland Ballroom is preparing for their Sept. 7th reopening with Billy Currington, seven months after being severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy.
During the storm, the Starland was flooded by more than six feet of water that caused extensive damage to their electrical, plumbing and sound system, as well as interior surfaces, fixtures and furnishings. The disruption left more than 50 scheduled shows displaced in the wake of the storm.
Improvements at the refurbed Starland include an additional level in the rear of the main ballroom, upgraded lights and improved backstage and dressing room facilities. Other improvements include improved crowd flow and sightlines in the venue as well as provisions to make the venue more resistant to flooding in the future.
The new opening for the Starland will also herald the introduction of AXS, AEG's ticketing platform to provide ticketing services for shows at the Ballroom.
Other shows already on the calendar for the Starland include Taking Back Sunday on Sept 11 & 12; Puddle of Mudd on Sept 13th; Hatebreed and GWAR on Sept 15th; Volbeat / HIM with All That Remains, Airbourne as part of the Monster Energy Rock Allegiance Tour on Sept. 25; and Saves The Day on Sept 28th. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
