LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) — Despite earlier news reports to the contrary, the Electric Daisy Carnival held in Las Vegas last weekend resulted in one fatality, after a 20-year-old woman from San Diego died following the event.
According to local Fox affiliate KVVU, friends of the woman, whose family asked that her name not be released, reported that she collapsed at approximately 6AM on Monday morning while waiting for a shuttle on the festival grounds. Witnesses said traffic delayed ambulances and the woman began suffering seizures. By the time the woman got to University Medical Center, her temperature was nearly 110 degrees and doctors were unable to save her, declaring her legally deceased on Wednesday, KVVU said.
In a statement released to KVVU, a rep for EDC promoter Insomniac said:
“Our sincerest thoughts and condolences go to the family and friends of the guest who passed away after attending the festival. While the cause of this tragedy has not yet been determined, we ask everyone to keep her loved ones in their prayers during this time of grieving.”
