Usually the group or artist cancels; now it is the politician. Just a day after accepting an invitation to Russell Simmons' Hip Hop Summit on June 12-13 in New York, Federal Communications Chairman Michael Powell, the son of Secretary of State Colin Powell, has cancelled. His reason: scheduling conflict.
Hip-hop impresario Simmons, who invited Powell, says, "He's probably a very nice guy, but he's out on a ledge that the government shouldn't be on."
