RealNetworks Launches Sony Music Device Plug-in For RealOne Player

RealNetworks, Inc, the global leader in Internet media delivery, has launched the Sony Music Device Plug-in for the RealOne Player. The plug-in enables consumers to easily transfer their digital music to Sony audio devices such as Net MD( Walkman, Network Walkman and VAIO personal computers. The RealOne Player plug-in will be available July 8 free of charge to all RealOne Player users. Additionally, Sony will promote their Net MD product line across RealNetworks' family of Web sites.

This comes shortly after Sony and RealNetworks signed a multi-year agreement this spring to work together to bring audio and video technology to Sony's hardware devices including portable audio players and traditional consumer electronics.

"For the millions of consumers who use Sony's growing family of music players such as Net MD Walkman, Network Walkman, and VAIO personal computers, the RealOne Player provides considerable benefits for managing and transferring digital content," said Keiji Kimura, corporate senior vice president of Sony Corporation. "Today's announcement is a meaningful step in enabling our customers to enjoy digital music on a wide variety of Sony products."

"When creating the strategic partnership with Sony, our goal was clear: to work with the number one consumer electronics brand in the world to bring our industry-leading technology to a wide range of consumer products," said Phil Barrett, senior vice president, RealNetworks, Inc. "Creating a fully integrated music experience between RealOne Player and Sony audio devices does just that and is the first step in our collaboration to drive the industry forward."
