ReverbNation Adds Digital Distribution, Songvest

NEW YORK (Hypebot) – Lower costs and increased availability of digital distribution for all artists is evolving rapidly and ReverbNation has joined the race adding flat fee distribution to its suite of artists services. For $34.95 bands can distribute an album to 10 online retailers including iTunes and Amazon. That is $5 less than the more established TuneCore platform and includes some tracking and promo tools that TuneCore does not. Single track uploads, however. not yet part of the ReverbNation offering.

SongVest and ReverbNation have agreed to cross-promote each others’ selected services and allow ReverbNation’s 250,000 artist member base to utilize SongVest auctions to generate additional revenue from their catalogs. SongVest auctions off a portion of the writer’s share of songs which gives artists a new revenue stream. The partnership has already auctioned a track, “Love for Sale,” from ReverbNation act GB Leighton (aka songwriter Brian Leighton).

With CD sales of 70,000, SongVest was therefore able to secure Leighton $4,600 for the track and 200 fans bid on 50% of the writer’s share (or 25% of the entire royalty stream) for two songs by the ‘80s rock band Stryper, which for $25,000.

ReverbNation distributes to these 10 online outlets:

  • iTunes U.S.
  • iTunes Aus/NZ
  • iTunes Canada
  • iTunes UK
  • iTunes EU
  • iTunes Japan
  • Amazon
  • eMusic
