MANCHESTER, England (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft has been arrested after bursting into a youth club and asking to work with the teenagers present.
Witnesses to The Sun newspaper that the singer, fresh from a headlining stadium show in Manchester, refused to leave The Bridge club in Chippenham, Wiltshire on Monday night.
Staff members called police and Ashcroft was taken into custody for a couple of hours, then released with an £80 penalty fine for disorderly behavior.
Around 60 teenagers were present at the club when the incident occurred.
Ashcroft had played his largest-ever solo gig at Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester on Saturday, June 17th. He was joined onstage by DJ Shadow for a surprise version of the UNKLE track “Lonely Soul.” –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
