Roskilde Police has given full license for Roskilde Festival 2001
Today 18 May Roskilde Festival has received the full license from Roskilde Police to carry through Roskilde Festival 2001.
The license is given on the basis of Roskilde Festival's extensive and detailed care and safety assessment, which according to plans was delivered to Roskilde Police on Monday 7 May.
Roskilde Festival applied for a license to carry through Roskilde Festival 2001 on 9 February and on 20 March Roskilde Police granted a conditioned license. The conditions were that the organization of a number of areas and the handling of these areas were to be described in detail in a care and safety assessment to be approved prior to the grant of a license. This is the procedure now in most Danish police precincts. First the organizers get a fundamental and conditioned permission and once the conditions are estimated to be fulfilled the full license is granted. Among the larger Danish festivals in Denmark Roskilde Festival is believed to be the first one to get the license for 2001.
Roskilde Police has been going through the numerous elements and has now approved Roskilde Festival's care and safety assessment. On Monday 21 May the organizers will publish essential parts of the care and safety assessment on the website www.roskilde-festival.dk. On the site the audience and other concerned will be able to read about safety measures around the stages one by one on the Festival site and about securing of the camping areas and other parts of the huge event.
Roskilde Festival's extensive safety work has been ongoing for months and the organizers are happy that the license has now been granted.
