Schoenike To Lead Cedar Rapids Facilities For Compass

Cedar Rapids, Iowa (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Compass Facility Management President Steve Peters has announced the hiring of Scott Schoenike as Executive Director of the Compass managed U.S. Cellular Center, Paramount Theatre and Cedar Rapids Ice Arena in Cedar Rapids, IA. Schoenike succeeds Sharon Cummins, who had worked with the Cedar Rapids facilities for more than nineteen years. Cummins took a corporate position with Compass last month.

"We feel we have found the right person in Scott Schoenike to assume the responsibilities of running the three facilities," Peters said. "He has the experience necessary to carry forward the traditions established by the staff and to explore new opportunities."

Schoenike has more than 18 years of experience in the entertainment and hospitality industry. He comes to Cedar Rapids after nearly four years as Executive Director of the DeltaPlex Entertainment & Expo Center in Grand Rapids, Mich. The DeltaPlex also is managed by Compass.

"I am excited to have this opportunity," Schoenike said. "We will work hard to build upon the successes established here in Cedar Rapids. There is no doubt that in today's economy, the concert industry is changing. I look forward to facing these challenges with the current staff."

Schoenike has met challenges in the past. At the DeltaPlex, he inherited a building that was operating at a $260,000 loss in 2003. By 2006, the building was operating at a $380,000 profit.

"Scott's credentials are impressive," Five Seasons Commission President Al Varney said. "We are glad to have a person of his quality available to fill this important position. We look forward to working with Scott into the future."

Schoenike worked for the Compass corporate office as a contract consultant and Midwest Regional Food & Beverage Director from 1997-2003. He simultaneously served as Convention & Sales Director at the Midwest Wireless Center in Mankato, Minn., from 1997-2001.

Before coming to work for Compass, Schoenike worked for Aramark Corporation from 1989-1997. He was assistant suite/catering manager at the Met Center in Minneapolis from 1989-1993, assistant suite manager at the Alamodome in San Antonio from 1993-1995, and Catering Director at Coors Field in Denver from 1995-1997.

Schoenike is a native of the Minneapolis area. He and his wife, Annie are parents of infant twin sons. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
