SEATTLE (Hypebot) – Spotify co-founder Daniel Ek has confirmed that Apple has approved its iPhone and iPod touch streaming application. The official status comes at a key time for both companies.
Apple has come under increased scrutiny for rejecting select applications that some see as competing with iTunes and other Apple products. Spotify smartly made iTunes the download partner for its app, but the approval still hints at a new attitude for Apple.
The approval gives Spotify a major additional advantage as it prepares to enter more territories including China and the United States. The US rollout could happen as early as September.
