DOHA, Qatar (VIP NEWS) — Live Nation`s Ticketmaster has opened up an office in Qatar, its second entry into the Middle East in two years.
The tiny nation of 2 million has a rapidly growing economy and was recently awarded the 2022 FIFA World Cup, an event it insists will happen despite concerns about the region`s scorching temperatures.
"As Ticketmaster continues to deliver innovative products and services, more venues in more countries are choosing Ticketmaster solutions. We have had good success in this region in a short period of time, and we are looking forward to expanding our business into Qatar`s rapidly growing market where there is an ever-increasing demand for live events," said Michael Rapino, president and chief executive officer, Live Nation Entertainment.
The California-based ticketing agent began operating in the United Arab Emirates two years ago and officials say the company has felt pressure from organizers, both local and international, to open up shop in nearby Qatar.
Ticketmaster`s Qatar office, its 19th worldwide, is led by Ulas Karaoglu and is located in Doha.
