Top Of The Pops Tour Cancelled

LONDON (VIP NEWS) — A Top of the Pops stage tour, which was to have featured tribute acts playing hits from the TV show's heyday, has been cancelled due to low ticket sales.

Top of the Pops Live was due to feature archive footage from the long-running program alongside live performers.

The UK tour was sanctioned by the BBC and was due to begin on October 18th.

But producer Derek Nicol said: "Ticket sales have so far been disappointing and we have taken the difficult decision to cancel the tour."

He added: "We apologize for any inconvenience caused and wish to reassure anyone who has purchased a ticket that they can obtain a full refund from the point of purchase."

Produced by the team behind the Michael Jackson tribute musical Thriller, the show was to have been hosted by TV presenters Sam Nixon and Mark Rhodes and was billed as "a nostalgic interactive jukebox".

Top of the Pops was axed by the BBC in 2006 after 42 years on the air.

The Top of the Pops Live tour was due to have toured until April 2013, visiting locations including Eastbourne, Birmingham, Manchester, Bradford and Liverpool. –According to BBC
