LONDON (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Michael Jackson has added more gigs to his stand at the O2 arena, bringing the total number to an impressive 50 shows.
Tickets for the performance have been moving at a rate of 20,000 tickets per hour for 18 hours. The tickets are going for 75/65/50 pounds sterling, which means that if they sell out, the shows will gross roughly $75 million.
If they sell out, more than 1 million fans will attend the 50 shows, approximately 1/7th of the entire population of London. If a tour will develop out of this remains to be seen but it must be something AEG is at least pondering, based on these numbers.
Michael is said to be 'thrilled' by the response and wanted as many fans to share the experience with him as possible.
Randy Phillips, President & CEO of AEG Live, commented, "Not only are these concerts unparalleled, these records will never be broken! We knew this was show business history, but this is a cultural phenomenon."
