West Hollywood House Of Blues To Close In August

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Live Nation revealed that the West Hollywood House of Blues would be closing its doors for good on August 7th, a year ahead of the time frame previously indicated by the entertainment giant.

Layoffs at the venue, affecting 197 employees – including bartenders, bussers, servers, directors, cooks, sales people, stage hands, managers and security – will start on July 31st, according to state employment filings obtained by the Los Angeles Business Journal.

Live Nation said that some employees may be offered the opportunity to transfer to other Live Nation operations.

“We’ve had a terrific run with our Sunset location and we’re actively searching for a new venue as our flagship,” a Live Nation spokesman told the Journal. “We’re actively working with our employee base to assure them of employment.”

Live Nation previously revealed that the West Hollywood venue would be closed and redeveloped as mixed use condo/hotel/entertainment venue, however at the time, they suggested that the venue would continue to operate for at least two more years.
