Wiley WMG Finally Catches Up With Roadrunner

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Warner Music Group has acquired the remaining 26.5% of Roadrunner Records completing the purchase of the company they started in January, 2007.

According to Billboard.biz, Roadrunner will continue to operate as an imprint within WMG but the company will see staffing changes, primarily at their main offices in Netherlands where some support and administrative functions will be taken over by WMG. Cees Wessels, the label's founder, will remain CEO.

First launched as Roadracer in the Netherlands in 1980, Roadrunner has become a major metal label with a roster that sports artists such as Korn, Nickelback, Slipknot, Collective Soul, Dream Theatre and others. According to Billboard, Roadrunner's overall albums market share through Nov. 7 (which includes catalog) is 0.85%. Current album market share is 0.91%. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
