LISBON, Portugal (CelebrityAccess) — Peter van der Veer has been elected as the President of the European Arenas Association during the organization’s plenary meeting in Lisbon this month.
Mr. van der Veer, who is CEO and co-owner of Rotterdam Ahoy, a convention center and arena located in the Netherlands. HE’s been a member of the EAA since 2006 and an active member of the organization’s board since 2012.
“Our world changes in rapid speed. It requires a new view from us as venues. I am convinced that a platform as EAA is essential in sharing ideas, in pulling the strings, in being pro-active on all important and relevant issues in the field of live events. I am honored to have been chosen as President of this valuable platform,” van der Veer said.
The EAA consists of 36 member arenas across 22 European countries and serves to advocate for the industry and to foster best practices at European venues. In 2017, its venues saw more than 18.7 million customers attending 2,899 events across the membership.
Member arenas include Accor Hotels Arena in Paris, Malmo Arena in Sweden, the Mercedes Benz Arena in Berlin and Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg.
Mr. van der Veer will be replacing AEG Europe’s Brian Kabatznick, who just concluded his three-year term at the helm of the EAA.
