WASHINGTON D.C. (CelebrityAccess) — U.S. Special counsel Robert Mueller is reportedly seeking to interview Russian pop star Emin Agalarov, who has been alleged to have played a role in facilitating the controversial 2016 Trump Tower meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer.
According to NBC News, Agalarov’s attorney said that “conversations are ongoing” about a potential interview.
According to multiple media reports, Agalarov allegedly played a role in facilitating the 2016 meeting when he told publicist Rob Goldstone that a Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, had incriminating evidence about the Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who was then facing off against President Trump in the 2016 election.
Goldstone allegedly contacted Donald Trump Jr., who agreed to meet with Veselnitskaya at Trump Tower in June 2016.
Trump Jr. has since downplayed the meeting, suggesting that it was primarily about Russian-American adoptions under the Magnitsky Act. President Trump has denied being aware of the meeting, despite a growing amount of circumstantial evidence that suggests he may have.
The sought-after meeting with Agalarov is part of Mueller’s ongoing investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election and the meeting has become a key point in Mueller’s investigation.
