Halloween Slashes Its Way To The Top Of The Weekend Box Office

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Just in time for everyone’s favorite spooky holiday, Universal’s revival of the John Carpenter horror classic Halloween debuted to a $91m worldwide opening.

Directed by David Gordon Green, Halloween stars Jamie Lee Curtis, and Nick Castle, who both reprise their roles from the 1978 original as the intrepid Laurie Strode and the villainous Michael Myers.

Halloween, which cost just an (estimated) $15 million to make, landed favorably with both the critics and movie-going public, earning $77.5M in North American theaters for its debut weekend.

Meanwhile, Sony’s Venom cleared $50.4 worldwide, and A Star Is Born continued to perform, earning $42.1M worldwide for the weekend.
