MIAMI (CelebrityAccess) — A drug-sniffing police dog had to be given anti-overdose medication after apparently overdosing while screening passengers boarding an EDM cruise.

According to Newsweek, a Brevard County Sheriff’s Office K-9 called Jake was helping police to check passengers boarding the Norwegian Epic for Holy Ship! an electronic dance music excursion when he appeared to suffer from medical distress.

“[Jake] started having some problems with balance and had some type of seizure incident of some sort, was showing effects of having inhaled some substance,” Tod Goodyear, a sheriff’s office spokesperson, told WFTV. “They administered the Narcan and got [him] to the vet.”

According to WKMG News 6, later analysis indicated the dog had been exposed to the drug MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy (shocker, right?) but was in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office linked the drugs to passenger Leslie Bennett, 33, from Montana who the Sheriff’s office. Bennett was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance without prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia and equipment and taken into custody.

Bennett was one of more than a dozen people arrested while trying to allegedly carry drugs onto the ship.

The floating music festival has a zero tolerance policy for drugs, and explicitly notifies passengers that they will be screened by a checkpoint run by Customs and Border Protection that includes dogs trained to detect drugs.
