EL CAJON, CA (CelebrityAccess) — Live Nation announced the lineup for the first six months of the refurbed theater formerly known as East County Performing Arts Center which is now set to re-open in September as The Magnolia.
The 1,210-seat Magnolia will begin hosting concerts on September 13th, starting with a performance by Countess Luann and Friends, followed on Sept. 24th by a performance by jazz guitar legend Al Di Meola.
“This is a special moment for not only El Cajon but the entire San Diego region,” said City Manager Graham Mitchell. “The completely renovated Magnolia represents another jewel in the continued growth of the entire region. It’s Magnolia’s look, feel and vibrancy—ranging from extra wide rows to more legroom in the venue to a VIP lounge and new bars combined with some of the best sightliness and entertainment experiences—that match any building anywhere in the country.”
The announced fall concert calendar will be the first shows staged at the Magnolia since Live Nation signed a 5-year deal with the city to operate, market and book the venue in 2017.
The venue has been dark for more than a decade and the city has spent more than $8 million on upgrades that include a new HVAC system, a new VIP area, backroom amenities, a new lobby bar, and kitchen.
The venue was also brought into compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act, including the installation of a new elevator to provide access to the upper floors for people with disabilities.
“The Magnolia will offer an amazing elevated entertainment opportunity for both artists and music fans. In addition to a spectacular outdoor Plaza Bazaar featuring unique pre- and post-show dining, the theater will offer new state-of-the-art sound, lighting and projection systems. We’re thrilled to join the El Cajon team,” said Live Nation’s COO of Clubs & Theaters Ben Weeden.
