WESTERLY, RI (CelebrityAccess) — Police in Westerly, Rhode Island arrested an Iowa man allegedly equipped with burglary tools outside of Taylor Swift’s home in Westerly’s tony Watch Hill neighborhood.
According to the Westerly Sun, charged 32-year-old David Page Liddle, of Des Moines, Iowa, with possession of burglary tools and possession of a prohibited weapon other than a firearm.
Police told the Sun they arrested Liddle after receiving reports from Swift’s neighbors of a suspicious man in the area. Police claimed Liddle said he had traveled to Nashville and Memphis before heading to Rhode Island and was seeking to “catch up with Taylor Swift.”
“He kept telling us he knew her personally and was just coming to visit,” Westerly Police Chief Shawn Lacey told the Sun. “He said he was trying to launch his singing career and she had agreed to help.”
After he was arrested, police allege they found 30 lockpicks and other burglary tools on Liddle’s person.
Liddle was held over the weekend and arraigned on Monday, the Sun reported.
