Fox’s Ford V. Ferrari Tops A Slow Box Office Weekend

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Fox raced to the top of the weekend box office with the $31.0 million North American debut of James Mangold’s “Ford V. Ferrari.”

Starring Matt Damon as the legendary racer and automotive entrepreneur Carroll Shelby, and Christian Bale as driver Ken Miles, “Ford V. Ferrari” is based on the true story of the famed rivalry between Ford Motor Corporation and Ferrari.

Directed by James Mangold, whose credits also include “Cop Land” (1997), “Girl Interrupted” (1999) and Logan, “Ford V. Ferrari” also features Jon Bernthal, Tracey Letts, Josh Lucas, JJ Feild, Caitriona Balfe & Noah Jupe.

Internationally, the film earned $21.4M in 41 material territories for a worldwide debut of $52.4M.

Now in its second week, Lionsgate’s “Midway” added $8.75 million from North American theaters for a North American cume of $35.14 million.

Coming in third in North American theaters was Sony’s “Charlie’s Angels” reboot. Director Elizabeth Banks, “Charlie’s Angels” features risten Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska as the angels, with Jonathan Tucker, Patrick Stewart, Djimon Hounsou, Nat Faxon, Sam Claflin, Chris Pang, and Noah Centineo filling out the cast.
