NASHVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess) – Following two decades as the host of the American Country Countdown, a weekly syndicated radio program that ranks and plays the top country music songs in the United States, Kix Brooks announced plans to officially step away from the role.

Brooks, who has overseen the American Country Countdown since 2006, will end his run as the syndicated show’s host with a final broadcast on the weekend of December 28 & 29.

“I never dreamed I would be asked to host a legendary international radio show like American Country Countdown,” explained Brooks. “The fact that I have been supported by hundreds of affiliates and an amazing team of radio professionals for 18 years has made this one of the greatest experiences of my professional life. It’s time to turn my primary focus back to writing, recording and touring with Brooks & Dunn. It’s been an honor, to say the least, that I was trusted with a microphone that had such an iconic history. Special thanks to all the fans who listened and participated, to ensure that I was being the best that I could be. Keep counting ‘em down!”

The show, which is syndicated nationally on more than 300 radio stations via Westwood One, is the country music version of the legendary Casey Kacem’s American Top 40, which debuted in 1970 and has been tracking the top hits, based on the

Stepping into the role vacated by Brooks will be veteran radio personality Ryan Fox. Fox currently serves as the morning host at the Dallas country station KPLX, 99.5 The Wolf.

Brooks’ exit from the American Country Countdown follows the news earlier this year that he had reunited with his longtime professional partner, Ronnie Dunn to release new music and announce a new tour.

The duo’s Neon Moon tour is slated to begin in March 2025 and hit markets across the U.S.
