(CelebrityAccess) — Steve Martin and the Board of The Steve Martin Banjo Prize announced Allison de Groot of Winnipeg, Canada and Tray Wellington of Wilkesboro, North Carolina as the 2024 recipients of the Steve Martin Banjo Prize.
The winners were introduced by Steve Martin during a live stream by the the Deering Banjo Company on the company’s YouTube channel on December 17th.
Hosted by board co-chair Alison Brown, the stream revealed the winners from both the clawhammer and 5-string bluegrass banjo styles, along with performances, interviews and more.
Each of the winners will receive a $25,000 unrestricted cash prize.
“The acknowledgement of these unique and talented musicians continues to thrill me,” Martin said.
