Aramark Strikes A Bargain With Mellon Arena Employees

PITTSBURGH (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Hundreds of hospitality workers at the Mellon Arena can breathe a sign of relief after Aramark reached a deal with the Service Employees International Union to keep them on after the Consol Energy Center opens.

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the deal will let more than 400 workers move the new Consol Energy Center, keeping the same wages, benefits and seniority that they enjoyed at the Mellon Arena.

The agreement averts a strike that had been threatened after Aramark sent a letter to Mellon employees, stating that there would be a interview/application process for Mellon employees moving to the Consol.

"We were ready to walk out of tonight's game," Anita Boehm-Renner, a Mellon Arena concession worker, told the Tribune-Review "I think we're all relieved we'll have our jobs." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
