NEW ORLEANS (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — With less than 10 hours before Aretha Franklin was set to take the stage for her headliner slot at the NOLA Jazz Fest, it was announced that the iconic singer had canceled her performance.
Franklin had been on the schedule for the event last year as well, but also backed out although with a little more time on the clock.
According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Jazz Fest promoters had kept in contact with Franklin after her 2009 retreat and she had been one of the first major acts to sign on for Jazz Fest 2010.
A reason for the cancellation was not given and R&B group Earth Wind Fire will take up the slack in the lineup. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
